Easter 09

Van’s 1st Easter!!!!

Friday night we had our friends Kenny, Shaylee, and Kenidee over for dinner. I cooked up so “famous” dmiller burgers and boiled some eggs for coloring. We did our traditional onion peel coloring and helped the kids with the bright colors (well, i watered down the colors too much so they weren’t that bright.) After making a mess and Kenidee almost eating an egg, we let the eggs dry and told Kenidee to take the eggs home and the Easter Bunny would hide them.

Every year we spend Easter with the Wheeler’s, there isn’t a set place just wherever we can all get together. A year or so ago my parents told us they didn’t want to miss having Easter with us when we had kids, and now we have a kid (yay!) So the Wheeler’s needed a place to have Easter and my parents have a place ;-)

This worked out beautifully, what better place to have kids run around than a farm. After a great Easter dinner Steve (Mitzi’s husband) played the part of the Easter Bunny and took a bag full of eggs outside to hide. Then we bribed the kids by telling them they had to be good and take family pictures before they could hunt for eggs. When we were finally done with pictures, they were off!!! Alex hunted eggs for her and Amelia and Thomas found eggs for himself and Van. Jae picked up some eggs too, but I think it was just for the candy.

After all the eggs were found we decided to go look at the cows. My parents had pinned up some of the more tame cows so the kids could feed them out of their hand. It was a blast watching everyone try to not get their fingers bitten off, lol even Steph fed one (she said it was just like feeding the elderly ;0) After we ran out of feed we all climbed into the back of the truck for a guided tour. When we drove into the field and the kids saw all the cows Alex said, “We’re in Cow Town!” Now who would have guessed kids aren’t much for tours, so they stared climbing around and somehow ended up in the front seat. Before we knew it Alex was driving and Thomas was blaring the radio and pushing every button he could find, then of course they had to switch!

Somewhere between eating and feeding cows my dad was named “Grandpa Max” by Thomas. We have no idea where this name came from, but it stuck because Alex started calling him Grandpa Max too!

After the eating, hunting, feeding, and the tour it was time for a nap. So everyone headed their separate ways but I’m pretty sure everyone was sleeping within the next 2 hours. Sunday morning came early but the service was as good as ever. After church Jae’s parents accompanied us to Texas Roadhouse for a little extra time with Van.

Christmas

Christmas time this year has been very exciting, probably because we know next year there will be a little one. It’s also a great time so see family you don’t get to see all that often, and the food don’t forget the food ;-)

Anyway this year Jae and I hosted my mom’s side of the family. I’ve never cooked that much for a party before and I was exhausted even before it was over. I could barely catch my breath to read the Christmas Story. My parents stayed the night so they didn’t have to travel back the next morning to go to my aunt and uncles.

We had a great Christmas morning opening presents and just spending time together. We headed to Galan & C’Ann’s around noon’ish and had a huge feast there. We got to see & chat with all the extended family and see their faces at the size of Jae’s belly, lol.

The Sunday after Christmas we spent with Jae’s family, my family gets Christmas Eve & Day and her family get Thanksgiving. Again we had another big feast, no wonder ppl gain soo much during Christmas. Then we did our non-secret Santa and let the kids open presents.

Our big present from my parents this year was a video camera, so we can capture all those funny moments of the baby for them ;-) But I though I’d take it to Christmas with the Wheeler’s and play around with it. Hope you enjoy.
